Living Bridges

Check out this fascinating blog documenting living bridges in northeastern India.
The bridges utilize the secondary roots of the Ficus elastica tree to create extraordinarily strong bridges. War-Khasi tribes people train the roots to grow out over streams and root into the other bank.
Unlike virtually every other bridge type on earth these bridges gain strength over time as the roots mature and root deeper into the earth.
